Improve My Success Rate

We would love to be able to say that there is something magical about this site which makes everyone who visits amazingly attractive to all other Members without any effort, but unfortunately we have to be just a tiny bit realistic. The most important thing to bear in mind is that you are in competition with all others of your sex and age group, especially when it comes to getting the attention of the more popular members.

You appear to other Members as just one entry in a long list of search results. They will first be scanning the photos on the list for those that look appealing and then reading those Member's descriptions, looking for something interesting. Go on, admit it - just as you do when you are browsing. A good test is to temporarily change your 'Who I'm Looking For' settings to search for people in your age group and of your own sex. You will then see your own entry amongst those you are in competition with. You will be able to see how far down the list you appear (Gold Members are listed first in order of the most recently active - so visiting regularly will keep you high on the list). Take a mental step back and ask yourself, 'if I were the type of person I am looking for would I choose me out of that lot?'. If not then you need to do something about it!

Add a Photo
Once again bear in mind what you look for when you are browsing. We all like to see who we might be talking to and the most common search setting is 'show those with photos only'. So a good photo is probably the most important starting point. This will ensure you appear on everyone's search listings and hopefully get people interested enough to view your profile. We can't all look like male or female models, but we all have something going for us. Choose a photo that shows you in the best light - then it is down to the description you have written!

Write an Interesting Description
Once again bear in mind what you look for yourself when you are browsing - and also bear in mind that members will view your profile and read your description not only before deciding to make initial contact, but also before deciding to reply to any contact you make.

When writing your description it might help to bear in mind that you can search for those members who's description contains a keyword or phrase that you enter, such as 'skiing', 'beach holiday', 'nightlife', 'camping' etc - which means you can look for members with similar interests. It also means that other members will be able to search the description you have written, so other members with similar interests will have a greater chance of finding you if you have included as much about yourself and the holiday you are looking for as possible.

There are many aspects of a potential holiday that could be included in your description, wherever you have a preference. For example, if there is anywhere you have always fancied visiting, whether it's anything from the Guinness Brewery to the Grand Canyon it can't hurt to mention it!

It would help potential holiday partners decide if they'd like to join you if you mention the type of holiday you are looking for. Do you prefer lying on the beach in the sun all day or exploring the sights and local culture? Or a bit of both? Or maybe you are looking for an activity holiday such as skiing, sailing or scuba diving? Would you be willing to go camping or must it be five star hotels all the way?

You could also say something about yourself as a person. For example a night owl and an early to bed, early riser probably wouldn't get on too well on holiday together! So perhaps you could say whether you are hoping to party all night or quietly watch the sun go down with a cocktail on the veranda.

If you are really stuck for ideas then a good tip is to imagine the description you'd like to see on the profile of your perfect holiday partner. This is bound to fit you like a glove - so why not use it!

Be Active!
Don't sit back and wait for others to get in touch with you. If everyone did that then nobody would contact anybody! Try to get in touch with as many Members as possible. The more you contact the more likely you are to get a response, simply by the law of averages!

Active members are always so much more successful than passive ones. There are always many more people thinking about getting in touch but hesitating about it than those that actually do. If you make initial contact you can tip the balance in your favour!

Summary
Add a nice photo, write a good description and be active! Everyone at MyHolidayPartner wishes you the very best of luck in finding your ideal Holiday Partner!
